Tenant Nature Walk with Wild Oxfordshire
On a sunny spring afternoon, Lucy Properties had the pleasure of hosting a nature walk in partnership with Wild Oxfordshire, giving our tenants the chance to explore the biodiversity right in the heart of Jericho.
The walk began at the peaceful St Sepulchre’s Cemetery, where Wild Oxfordshire introduced us to the variety of blossoming plants and flowers. Tenants enjoyed learning about the beautiful bluebells and hyacinths in bloom, as well as discovering the many tree species in the area.
From there, we wandered along the Oxford Canal, where nature was in full display. We spotted ducks paddling along, butterflies fluttering past, and bees busily pollinating the canal-side plants. The highlight for many was watching a crane proudly standing next to its catch of the day – a rather impressively sized fish. A rare sight in the city!
Our journey continued to the Trap Grounds Nature Reserve. There, we spotted a group of adorable ducklings and were lucky to spot a jay bird darting between the trees. Tenants took time to explore the reserve’s varied habitats, from tranquil water areas to woodland paths, taking in the peaceful surroundings.
To end the walk, we made our way into Port Meadow, where we were greeted by grazing cows and a group of horses roaming freely. The wide, open skies and natural wetlands offered a stunning contrast to the earlier wooded areas, reminding us just how diverse and accessible nature is in and around Oxford.
This event was a wonderful reminder of the wildlife that thrives alongside us and the importance of protecting it. We’re grateful to Wild Oxfordshire for sharing their knowledge
and enthusiasm, and to our tenants for making the day so memorable.
